Swing Trade, Trading Education, singapore stock No Comments »

During my meeting with my clients ,alot  of them will ask me what I do to select the stock to trade.

Maybe just want to spend sometime to talk about this.

I usually do swing trading  and I like to trade with the trend.

I will use the Metastock to look for uptrend stock.

So how do you define uptrend stock, I tend to have a simple scan so that I have a longer list of to eyeball.

My simple will be 20 Moving average(20SMA)  above 40 moving average (40SMA) and Close higher than 40SMA.

The Metastock Explorer

Filter:

C>Mov(C,40,S)  AND Mov(C,20,S)>Mov(C,40,S) AND CCI(5)<0

on top of that I would like to CCI to drop below 0.This is because I like to have the stock to consolidate for a few days.

My personal view on STI, please draw your own conclusion.

STI has broken down from the 40 and 50 Moving Average. Can consider to lock in your profit.

(Sell on strength but does NOT mean short)

20 MA and 40 MA are flat . CCI already high indicating the wave are already near max.

At best we are on a sideway.

STI support 2570 which is also at sloping up 100MA.( Long term can consider buy but NOT now)

Leaders lead the market. China stock market is a leader .They have move up more than any market in Asia.

We can see from here that after 2 buy signal in mid Mar , the CSI system has a sell signal on 13/08/09. Currently it is still a stay out signal.

Technical speaking, the 100MA (yellow ) is not providing the support. Looking at the magnitude of the fall, they maybe a short rally before testing the 200MA (red).

csiv2-270809

For STI , I will remain cautious as the leaders has already show weakness.

sti-week-240809

weekly chart , we are seeing a divergence in the momemtum and the STI, ie momentum is dropping.

sti-240809

STI daily chart , STI is now in sysmmetrical triangle , this chart pattern is a continuation pattern. However the STI need to break out of this triangle to confirm the continuation of the uptrend.

My personal view.
